The time has come! We’re going to Italy!!! I’m so excited I actually can’t believe it’s real — and probably won’t until we get there.

We always knew we wanted to do a trip, a last hoorah if you will, to celebrate Richard graduating medical school {before the craziness of residency begins} and HERE we are — actually doing it.

We started the planning process in September so I’m basically birthing a child.

We’ve been thinking about & saving for this for months & months. An “Italy Funds” jar was a thing #nerdalert. Richard has worked his tush off for 4 years & I could not be more proud of my Doctor as he starts his residency in July – needless to say this is MUCH deserved and not taken lightly πŸ™‚

We fly to Rome tonight and will be making our way to the Amalfi Coast + Capri. I’m signing off the blog for 2 weeks BUT if you know me at all you know I’ll be very active on Insta {sparklesense_} & Snapchat {ashfehr}.

Orrrr you can unfollow me — whatever suits your fancy, ha!

We’re spending a couple days in Rome and used this great free travel planner called Sygic Trip Planner. It helps you map out your route, how long it will take you to get around as well as suggestions nearby.

It was so much fun and made it SO easy for us to figure out what we hope to see in Rome with full print outs to take along with us πŸ™‚ I’ve also been following along with Elizabeth Minchilli’s Instagram — I’ve jotted down tons of her food recos.

Another thing to note — I used Taylor’s post about packing {here} — it helped me remember to order things I would have definitely forgotten {ex: blister pads, Band-Aids, etc.} & items I didn’t know existed: Refillable Brita Water Bottles — find the 2 pack I ordered here for $14.

We also worked with a travel agent {Peggy was amazing & oh so patient} to help with all the logistics of transfers, trains, etc.

I have a million things I’m looking forward to in the Amalfi Coast & Capri — to name a few: our hotel in Ravello {I think it may be heaven on earth – this is our one hotel splurge — we opted for their smallest, cheapest, interior room but HEY at least we’re staying there πŸ™‚ }, a day in Positano, cocktails at Franco’s Bar, dinner at Da Paolino under the lemon trees, Fontelina Beach Club {see Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda fashion show that was held there}, having a drink at JK Place, the list goes on & on…
